A Public Interest Litigation was filed in the Nagpur Bench of the Bombay High Court seeking legal action against the candidate who gave gifts to the voters to win the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
Gajendra Chacharkar, a social activist from Nagpur, while filing a Public Interest Litigation in the Nagpur bench, has mentioned Kirti Kumar Bhangdia, the MLA of Chimur Assembly Constituency.
Social activist Gajendra Chacharkar, who filed the Public Interest Litigation, says that gifts have become effective in attracting voters consistently.
Giving gifts through this or that program or giving gifts to the voters during the election period is part of the temptation, and repeatedly tempting the voters through gifts means taking advantage of the poverty of the voters and their financial hardship.
The petitioner says that the MPs and MLAs are taking advantage of the voters to win the elections through the temptation of gifts and taking advantage of the voters in such a way is an antidote to democracy.
Ideally, many candidates contesting the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections distribute items such as mixers, sarees, TVs, etc. to the voters.
As a result, the candidates who are financially strong get advantage in the elections. The petitioner has also mentioned that this matter is fatal to democracy.
During the 2019 election, MLA Bunti Bhangdia had distributed mixers. A complaint was made to the competent authorities in this regard. But they did not take any action.
Legal expert Ed.Ashwin Ingole is handling the work related to Public Interest Litigation.
However, winning elections through corruption has become the business of the moneyed and doing corruption has also become their job.
It is obvious that even if complaints are made against the MLAs and MPs of the ruling party, that complaint is not given importance.
