Former Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren was arrested by the ED on 31 January 2024 in connection with the land misappropriation case and the ED’s counsel was arguing in the Jharkhand High Court that it was a money laundering case.

However, Supreme Court legal expert Meenakshi Arora pointed out to Judge Ranjan Mukhopadhyay of Jharkhand High Court that the present case is neither land misappropriation nor money laundering.

Meenakshi Arora, while presenting the strong side of the case of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, brought to the attention of Justice Ranjan Mukhopadhyay of the Jharkhand High Court that the land purchase and sale case took place in the year 1970 and Chief Minister Hemant Soren was born in 1975.

Due to this, my Chief Minister Hemant Soren has no relation in land purchase case or malpractice case and the said case is civil and not of money laundering.

As soon as Jharkhand Supreme Court Judge Ranjan Mukhopadhyay realized this issue, he granted bail to former Chief Minister of Jharkhand Hemant Soren on 28th June on two conditions of Rs 50,000.

Has former Chief Minister Hemant Soren been implicated in a false and fabricated case? This is likely to come up after the next hearing.
