Mumbai, Dt. 27 – The Modi government has recently issued a very shocking and infuriating circular that financial assistance will no longer be given to SC, ST, OBC students pursuing higher education from reputed educational institutions across the country.
Therefore, the doors of higher education of lakhs of backward class students across the country have now been closed forever. Due to this circular issued by the Modi government, their true casteist face has come to the fore.
Students belonging to SC, ST and OBC categories used to get admission in reputed educational institutions across the country. The central government used to pay the tuition fees, food and lodging expenses of these students to those institutions.
Therefore, the backward class students used to get higher education and go to big positions. Even when the economic situation was weak, the backward class students could get higher education with the help of the government.
But the Modi government took a very unfair decision this year by issuing a circular to not provide financial assistance to the backward class students pursuing higher education in various institutions.
As soon as the Modi government issued this circular, Tata Social Sciences, a leading institute in Mumbai, decided to recover tuition fees, food and lodging expenses from the backward class students pursuing higher education in its institute from the current academic year.
This decision had a big impact on the backward class students studying in this institution. It became impossible for these students to pay the huge fees of the educational institution.
Because of this, their educational future has become dark.
The economic situation of the backward class students who are pursuing higher education in Tata Institute of Social Sciences is very weak. The question is how to complete their further education.
Shambuk Uday, an official of All India Students Federation and a former student of Tata Institute of Social Sciences, said that this is a ploy of the Modi government to deprive the backward class society of basic education. This is a Brahmin policy of the Modi government and Dalits are going to be oppressed more.
A student of Tata Institute of Social Sciences said that Modi government has no right to play with the lives of backward class students. He said that I took admission in Tata Institute of Social Sciences last year. Institute fee is huge, I can’t afford it. If I want to pursue further education, I have no other option but to sell my kidney.
The Union Ministry of Social Justice has not yet paid the amount spent by the institution on backward students last year to the institution, in this regard, repeated correspondence was requested to the Union Ministry to provide funds, but the Ministry did not provide the funds.
Tata Institute of Social Sciences has said in its statement that the institute has spent Rs 20 crores on backward students last year. Since the government did not provide the funds, now we have decided to recover the funds from the students.
