Pankaj Itkelwar, a painter artist who left his mark not only in the state of Maharashtra but also internationally through Kunchala in his motherland in the historical city of Bhadravati, taking primary art training with a playful attitude through Kunchala, who attended Tribal Handicrafts and Painting Center and Art Academy in Bhadravati, then went on to pursue higher education in the field of art. A group art exhibition of one artist each from Nagpur, Bhubaneswar, Pune and Varanasi will be held at the world-famous Janhagir Art Gallery in Mumbai on March 19. The said exhibition will be open for public from 19th March to 25th March, 2024 in Auditorium Hall.
Four painters and two sculptors young artists have expressed themselves through various mediums of art. Narottam Das, Pankaj Itkelwar, Babar Sharif, Mahesh Mankar, Aakash Suryavanshi and Ramesh Chandra, a group of like-minded and futuristic artists will be exhibiting their art.
Pankaj Itkelwar’s paintings are a commentary on today’s reality. Pankaj, a mudra painter, is characterized by subjecting his artwork to thought provoking and images, to the transitions seen around him.
Mudra easily expresses your thoughts in the pictorial medium. The exhibition showcases mudra paintings that express nature’s vibrations, textures and emotions through a variety of mudra pictorial mediums with specific shapes.
Prof. Pankaj Itkelwar
Pankaj Itkelwar has participated in various exhibitions in the country and abroad as a professor of Mudrachitra in the Government Art College, Nagpur. This is a special innovation for Bhadravatikars.
Babar Sharif is a painter from Nagpur who paints on the subject of past, future and sometimes logical – illogical concepts.
Through abstraction, one’s own imagery is expressed poetically with metaphor. Therefore, the pictures that come close to poetry must have come from nature. These paintings, which try to say something, are prominently attracted by various exhibitions.
Mahesh Mankar is a painter of Bhadravati who presents abstract concepts and the reality of the subject. Sometimes he paints political, social, ethical and unethical concepts in watercolor and sometimes in acrylic medium. Mahesh Mankar’s paintings are characterized by artistic presentation of the surrounding scenes in a highly realistic manner.
His paintings have been exhibited in various exhibitions in the country and abroad.
Narottam Das, who traces his relationship with Indian mythology and myth and sometimes primitive folk culture, is busy creating art in Bhubaneswar.
Narottam, who established himself independently in terracotta, is seen to express himself more effectively while creating sculptures in terracotta, stone and metal. He creates unique sculptures by taking the subjects of women, animals and birds, nature structure. Narottam’s sculptures have been displayed in many art exhibitions from modern to figurative, traditional and human form till date. Narottam has received various awards including the National Award of Lalit Kala Akademi.
Ramesh Chandra is a sculptor from Varanasi. Human relationships and energy sources are sculpted in the powerful medium of stone. Expressing the rhythm and sensibility of daily life through various compositions is the constant feeling of this artist. An artist who expresses his art in the medium of wood, stone, ceramic etc. tries to take his aesthetic vision to the sculpture lover. His sculptures have reached various exhibitions.
Aakash Suryavanshi, a Pune-based painter, paints on canvas the images seen or experienced and sometimes imagined during travel. With bicycle and other vehicles as the main subject, the graph of memories is illustrated with the help of human figures.
Sometimes these memories are expressed through vivid colors and sometimes through dreamy colors. His paintings have been exhibited through fellowships of the Ministry of Culture and many other exhibitions.
